Lay the foundation for good habits:
By regularly working on quiet, hands-on projects with your preschooler,
you lay the foundation for future study habits. Seeing a project through to
the end is a learned skill.
Dedicate time for learning:
Create good habits by setting aside time to
complete their homework. In the early years, “homework”might mean
listening to you read or coloring. Make a consistent schedule that works
best for your family.
Create a study space:
If your child requires quiet concentration, you’ll
need an appropriate area that is distraction free. Some children study
better while listening to music. Which fits your child?
Build independence:
Personal experience is a valuable teacher. For older
students, stay involved, but allow them to make some of their own
mistakes. A late assignment in the gradebook can be a good motivator for
future timeliness.
Consistent patterns and strong expectations help make
a good student. Start today!
