GREEN CLEANING
Here’s what you should know before using disposable cleaning wipes.
Not only do pretreated cleaning wipes cost 3-4 times more than the products
in liquid or spray form, after their single use, they add to your garbage costs.
Even those that are labeled“flushable”cause serious problems for wastewater
systems, so never flush these products.
Old towels and t-shirts make great alternative cleaning
wipes. The cloth fibers have a surface abrasion that cleans
better than synthetic fibers.
If you have chemicals you want to get rid of (cleaning
gardening, auto or craft) call the Household HazardousWaste
Facility to make an appointment. (541) 682-4120. Its Free!

Harmful cleaning chemicals can be avoided by using nontoxic
alternatives. Many recipes are available using liquid soap, vinegar,
baking soda, and borax. Here’s one to try:
All Purpose Spray Cleaner
2 cups water
2 tablespoons white vinegar

1 teaspoon borax
